What To Know Before you Go

Teen & Adult Lessons

This Information Applies To:

  • Explore-in-4 Beginner Lessons (ages 13+)
  • Ultimate 4 Lessons (ages 13+)

Cancellation Policy:

Changes or cancellations for lesson reservations MUST be made 2 days prior to your reservation date in order to receive a FULL REFUND. To cancel, please email spcancelations@vailresorts.com or call 206-812-4510 ext. 4230. If you cancel the day prior to your lesson you will be charged a fee of $25. If you cancel after 7:00am the day of your lesson or no show you will be charged the full rate of the lesson reserved. Lessons are non-refundable due to weather.

Payment Policy:

Lesson products will be charged to your credit card 24-48 hours prior to your lesson start date. If you have purchased the Explore-in-4 program, your package will be charged to your credit card within a week of purchase.

Check-In for Ultimate 4 Lessons:

If you have reserved rentals with your lesson, please check-in at the Rental Tech Center (RTC) located in the 1st floor of the Tye Creek Lodge. On weekends and holidays please allow yourself at least 90 minutes to park, navigate and get your equipment. If you are concerned you are running late, our Drop Off Area is located in our main parking lot (Lot A). Lot A is located immediately on the resort side of the highway adjacent to the pedestrian footbridge.

If you do not need rentals for your adult group lesson, please arrive at least 20 minutes prior to your lesson start time to the reservation desk at the front of the RTC to pick up your lesson voucher.

Lessons meet on snow right outside the RTC and begin at 10am. Please arrive to the lesson meeting area with your gear in hand, ready to go 10 to 15 minutes prior to your lesson. Look for the blue flags and fencing. Out of respect for all guests lessons start on time and late arrivals cannot always be accommodated.

Check-In for Explore-in-4 Lessons:

If you have reserved rentals with your lesson, please check-in at the Rental Tech Center (RTC) located in the 1st floor of the Tye Creek Lodge. On weekends and holidays please allow yourself at least 60 minutes to park, navigate and get fitted for your equipment. Please note that equipment rentals with Explore-in-4 lessons are only available after 12:30pm. If you are concerned you are running late, our Drop Off Area is located in our main parking lot (Lot A). Lot A is located immediately on the resort side of the highway adjacent to the pedestrian footbridge.

Helmet Policy:

All guests are strongly recommended to wear a helmet. While helmets may reduce or mitigate the severity of some head injuries, their use does not guarantee safety and will not prevent certain injuries. Rental helmets are available at the Rental Tech Center and are included in any lesson/lift/rental package.

Gratuity:

Gratuities for instructors are not a requirement but a welcomed and appreciated gesture. A 15-20% gratuity based on the cost of the lesson is typical and an appropriate amount.

What To Wear:

Please wear gear that will keep you warm and safe. We recommend:

  • Dress in layers. You may arrive cold, but warm up once you get moving.
  • Non-cotton socks, under-layers, and hat. Wool or synthetic materials work best to wick moisture away from your body keeping you warmer.
  • Water-proof and insulated jacket, pants, and gloves or mittens. The snow in the PNW can be wet, so please come prepared!
  • Goggles.
  • On really cold, blustery days a neck gaiter or face mask.

Lockers:

There are lockers located in the Rental Tech Center for your convenience.

Child Lessons

This Information Applies To:

  • Youth daily group lessons including Ultimate 3, Ultimate 4 and Ultimate 5. 

Cancellation Policy:

Changes or cancellations for lesson reservations MUST be made 2 days prior to your reservation date in order to receive a FULL REFUND. To cancel, please email spcancelations@vailresorts.com or call 206-812-4510 ext. 4516. Full refunds will only be issued for cancellations received 2 days before your lesson date. If you cancel the day prior to your lesson you will be charged a fee of $25. If you cancel after 7:00am the day of your lesson or no show you will be charged the full rate of the lesson reserved or lose a day of your 3-Pack.

Payment Policy:

Lesson products will be charged to your credit card 24-48 hours prior to your lesson start date. If you have purchased a 3-pack, your credit card will be charged within the week.

Where To Check-In For Youth Group Lessons (Ages 12 And Under):

Please refer to this Base Area Map when reading the below.

Check-in occurs at the Ski and Snowboard School building, across the base area towards the chairlifts. You DO NOT need to go the Rental Tech Center if you have reserved rentals with your child’s lesson as we have them ready for you at check-in!

Check-in times for AM lessons are 8am-8:30am and for PM lessons are 1:00pm-1:30pm. If you are concerned you are running late, our Drop Off Areas is located in our main parking lot (Lot A). Lot A is located immediately on the resort side of the highway adjacent to the pedestrian footbridge. On Peak Days we will have Ski and Snowboard School staff there to assist parents with children. We strongly suggest dropping off prior to parking if you are running behind schedule. 

Unfortunately, to keep on time for our other guests, checking in after the experience starts may result in being turned away from the lesson without a refund. However, you may use the rentals and lift ticket for that day.

Extra Belongings:

Your child may leave personal items in the Ski and Snowboard School while in a lesson, but we HIGHLY recommend their names are written on everything!

Private Lessons

Cancellation Policy:

Changes or cancellations for lesson reservations MUST be made 2 days prior to your reservation date in order to receive a FULL REFUND. To cancel, please email spcancelations@vailresorts.com or call 206-812-4510 ext. 4516. If you cancel the day prior to your lesson you will be charged a fee of $50. If you cancel after 7:00am the day of your lesson or no show you will be charged the full rate of the lesson reserved.

Payment Policy:

Lesson products will be charged to your credit card 24-48 hours prior to your lesson start date.

Where To Check In For A Private Lesson:

Please refer to this Base Area Map when reading the below.

If you have reserved rentals, please first go to the Rental Tech Center (RTC) located on the 1st floor of the Tye Creek Lodge to pick-up your equipment. You may also purchase a lift ticket from there if needed. On weekends and holidays please allow yourself at least 90 minutes to get through the rental process if your lesson starts in the morning. If your lesson is in the afternoon, evening, or on a weekday allow yourself at least 60 minutes.

After collecting your equipment or if you are bringing your own, head directly to the Private Lesson Office; now located on the first floor of the Pacific Crest Lodge close to the clock tower in the base area. Please arrive with your gear at least 10 minutes prior to your lesson start time.

If you are concerned you are running late, our Drop Off Area is located in our main parking lot (Lot A). Lot A is located immediately on the resort side of the highway adjacent to the pedestrian footbridge. Unfortunately, checking in after your lesson start time will result in non-refundable lost time in the lesson. If we cannot contact you within 30 minutes of the scheduled start time to determine your arrival status this will be classed as a no show and the lesson will be forfeit and charged in full.

Mountain Tours

Cancellation Policy:

To cancel, please email spcancelations@vailresorts.com or call 206-812-4510 ext. 4516. If you cancel the day prior to your tour you will be charged a fee of $50. If you cancel after 7:00am the day of your tour or no show you will be charged the full rate.

Payment Policy:

Mountain Tours will be charged to your credit card 24-48 hours prior to your reservation date.

Where To Check In For A Mountain Tour:

Check-in occurs in the main plaza adjacent to the clock tower. One weekends, look for the flags and tent indicating the meeting spot. You can also check-in at the Private Lesson Office in the Pacific Crest Lodge above the plaza.

Tours begin daily at 9:30am and end at 12:30pm. Out of respect for all guests tours start on time and late arrivals cannot always be accommodated.

Tickets and equipment are required. If you would like to rent sport or demo equipment you can do so online and allow sufficient time (1 hour on weekends) to collect this from the Rental Tech Center prior to the tour starting.

Gratuity:
