UPDATE AS OF MARCH 1, 2024:

For the 2024/25 winter season, Stevens Pass is introducing a combination of free and paid parking options on weekends and peak periods, with a focus on reservations and carpooling incentives. Please find important details about the program below: 

 

  • At the start of the 2024/25 winter season, free parking will be available in 67% of total resort parking at the start of next winter season on weekends and peak periods.
    • Free parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis in Lots C, D, 1, 2, 3, 4, Yodelin, and the Nordic Center as needed on weekends, peak periods, and every day of the week.
  • Free parking will be available in 100% of resort parking lots on a first-come, first-served basis on nonpeak weekdays.
  • Reserved parking will be available in 33% of total resort parking on weekends and peak periods in Lots G, A, B, and E at the start of the 2024/25 winter season.
    • All vehicles parking in these lots will require reservations until 10am on weekends and peak periods. All reserved spots, whether carpool or paid, will be held until 10am, with resort discretion to hold spots longer due to road conditions and other operational variables.
    • Reservations for vehicles with 3 or fewer occupants will be $20.
    • To encourage carpooling, reservations for vehicles with 4+ occupants and/or with a single adult and two children ages 12 and under will be free.
    • ADA parking in Lots A and G and the first four electric vehicles to arrive and park at EV chargers in Lot G will not require reservations and will be free.

Proceeds from paid parking reservations will be reinvested into the arrival experience at Stevens Pass.

We will update this page before next winter to include more specifics and instructions on creating a reservation for Lots G, A, B, and E for weekends and peak periods. 

 
 

Parking at Stevens Pass

Parking regularly reaches full capacity during weekends, holidays, and on midweek powder days, so please plan accordingly by carpooling, or arriving before 9 am or after 1 pm. It’s important to keep in mind all parking is available on a first come, first serve basis and cannot be guaranteed. If parking lots are at capacity, do not park on the shoulders or lanes of HWY 2. Parking on HWY 2 is illegal, and your vehicle will be towed and ticketed.

Whether you are driving to Stevens Pass from the East or West side of the Cascade Mountain Range, prepare to be awed. Highway 2 is one part of the award winning Cascade Loop Scenic Byway and Stevens Pass is its pinnacle.

With sweeping mountain vistas, dense forests, river and railway views, wildlife spotting, and plenty of small town charms along the way; the drive easily holds up to its title.

Driving Tips

Stevens Pass is conveniently located just 78 miles from Seattle and 65 miles from Everett at the crest of the Cascade Mountains on beautiful Highway 2. It is accessible by car.

Tips for Mountain Travel

During the winter, we can come into contact with some difficult driving conditions. Here are some tips to be prepared for winter driving: Vehicle Driving Preparedness

We strongly recommend that vehicles driving up to Stevens Pass are outfitted with Snow/Winter tires, or at least All Season tires. We also encourage all drivers to carry tire chains. Conditions can change quickly and chains are often required during storms. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) hosts information about winter driving that can be found here.

There are 40-foot spaces and 30-foot spaces available in our RV Lot. Reservations are required. If you do not have a reservation, please do not bring your RV to Stevens Pass because we cannot guarantee a parking spot.

Stevens Pass FAQS - Winter 2024/25

Q: Why are you making this change?

A: Following positive feedback received and looking at initial data resulting from our carpool-incentive approach implemented in winter 2023/24 on weekends and peak periods in Lots A, G, and C, we made the decision to take parking solutions and options for guests yet another step further. We are confident that adding a paid/reservations-based program during weekends and peak periods will improve the guest experience. We remain committed to providing options for both free and paid parking for our guests, including on weekends and peak periods.

Q: What are peak periods?

A: We define peak periods as weekends, holidays, and restricted days.

Q: How are you defining the ‘weekend’?

A: We define the weekend as Saturday and Sunday.

Q: How will this parking system be enforced?

A: We will implement all new parking policies and programming in partnership with a third part management company. More details to come prior to winter 2024/25.

Q: If paid reservations-based parking is effective, why not transition all lots to this model?

A: We want to provide our guests with several choices when it comes to their arrival and parking experience at Stevens Pass. We are committed to ongoing testing and learning at our resort as parking efficiency remains a key priority, and we will evolve with the demand.

Q: I understand Lots G, A, B, and E become paid lots with required reservations on weekends and peak periods until 10am, but what about during the week?

A: All of our lots, including Lots G, A, B, and E, will remain free, regardless of how many passengers are in a single vehicle, with no reservations required, Monday – Friday (when not during peak periods).

Q: What if there’s a delay on the highway due to unforeseen circumstances and I can’t make it to the resort by 10am? How will I know if my spot will still be available?

A: The resort will use its discretion to extend reservations beyond 10am due to traffic and other weather or operational impacts. Updates can be provided through the existing parking text communication.

Q: Is this about driving additional revenue?

A: No. We would consider this the greatest success if we collected no money at all. This plan is designed to encourage more guests to carpool, reducing the number of vehicles on the road and improving overall flow and access to our resorts. Proceeds from parking reservations will be reinvested into the arrival experience at Stevens Pass.

Q: Are Lots G, A, B, and E now full-time reservations-required paid lots?

A: No – these lots require reservations only on weekends and peak periods. Reservations are required at these times for all vehicles. Vehicles with three or fewer occupants will be $20 to park, and those with 4+ or a single adult with two children under the age of 12 are free.

Q: Will reservations be needed on non-peak weekday powder days?

A: No. If a powder day occurs on a non-peak weekday, reservations will not be needed, but Lot A will continue to be carpool-only when we report 6” or more of snow at the Schmidt Haus. Vehicles must meet one of the following requirements to park in Lot A on declared powder days: 4+ passengers, a single adult with two children ages 12 and under, or ADA parking.

Q: Where can I make a reservation and how far in advance can I make it?

A: Our reservation system will be online prior to winter 2024/25, with more details to be shared about the process in the fall.

Q: If I’m making a reservation, do I pay at the parking lot or do I do so ahead of time online?

A: Payment for parking is required online at the time of reservation, unless you have 4+ people in your vehicle or are a single adult with two children ages 12 and under, in this case, parking is free with a reservation still required.

Q: What happens if I make a reservation and don’t show up or cancel?

A: We will have more information about cancelling reservations and no-shows this fall.

Q: How many reservations can I book at one time?

A: We will have more information about the reservation process, including how many reservations can be booked, prior to winter 2024/25.

Q: Is there a season-long parking pass I can purchase for every weekend and peak period?

A: Not at this time.

Q: What if there’s a road or resort closure on a day that I have a parking reservation?

A: Your parking reservation will be canceled and automatically refunded if the resort is closed on the morning of your reservation.

Q: What if I can't get a reservation?

A: If reservations are sold out, you can try the following options: drop off friends or family at the designated drop-off area in Lot A, carpool with someone who already has a reservation, check back the night before or the morning of for last minute availability and cancellations, plan to arrive early to park in one of our free first-come, first-served lots, or arrive after 3pm.

Q: Why don’t you offer free reserved parking?

A: Reserved parking is free for any vehicle with 4+ passengers or a vehicle with a single adult and two children ages 12 and under.

Q: If I have a lesson booked with Ski & Ride School on a weekend or peak period, do I need a reservation?

A: Private lessons come with a pre-paid reserved parking spot. If you’ve booked a group lesson, you will be given the option to book a reserved parking spot. You can select to book a reservation or to arrive early and park in one of our free first-come, first-served lots.

Q: What happens if I don’t have a reservation for the paid lots on a weekend or peak period?

A: If you do not have a reservation, we will not be able to accommodate your vehicle in Lots G, A, B, and E until after 10am and parking begins to free up. There are several options when it comes to parking with us, including many free spots in our other lots on weekends and holidays/peak periods.

Q: Will Lot F be part of reserved parking?

A: Lot F will remain our RV overnight camping lot and reservations are required.
Q: How much will it cost for 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 people in a car to park in Lots G, A, B, and E next winter?

A: Our new reservations-based parking is free for vehicles with 4+ occupants or a single adult with two children aged 12 and under and applies on weekends and peak periods until 10am. ADA access and the first four vehicles to arrive for EV charging stations will also be free. If you arrive with less than four people and do not meet any of the exceptions, the reservation will cost $20. If you arrive after 10am, there will be no cost, nor a reservation requirement.

Q: What if my car doesn’t fit three additional people and ski gear and I don’t want to pay the flat fee in one of the paid reservations lots?

A: There are plenty of free lots if you are unable to accommodate four or more passengers in your vehicle to park in one of our carpool lots. Drop-off is also available should you want to drop off people in your vehicle and then park.

Q: Where can I park for free on weekends and peak periods?

A: At the start of the 2024/25 season, more than 65% of our parking will remain free on weekends and peak periods. Lots C, D, 1, 2, 3, and 4 always remain free and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Carpool-parking for vehicles with 4+ occupants or families with a single adult and two children ages 12 and under can park for free in Lots G, A, B, and E with a reservation.

Q: Will you be offering a shuttle from Monroe?

A: We currently do not have plans to provide a shuttle service other than to/from our satellite lots at Yodelin and the Nordic Center when needed.
