First-Timer FAQs

First-Timer FAQs

About the Learn-in-3 Guarantee

Q: What is the most affordable way to learn?
Answer: Group lessons. The Learn-in-3 Guarantee offers you unlimited group lesson packages including lesson, equipment rental and a lift ticket at a huge discount. Plus our exclusive ‘Guarantee’.

Q: What if I’m not ready to commit to 3-days?
Answer: You can purchase a single day package and upgrade to the Learn-in-3 Guarantee and pay the difference after your lesson.

Q: What does the ‘Guarantee’ mean?
Answer: We want you to feel confident and independent on the snow. This means obtaining the skills needed to tackle our easiest intermediate terrain. We guarantee to teach you those skills in 3 days, and if we can’t you can come back, on us, and receive additional lesson packages until you get there.

Q: So I can come back and take a free lesson if I’m not ready?
Answer: Yes. If you and your instructor feel you need more guided practice we will offer you another free package; lesson, lift ticket and equipment rental plus helmet. The lesson will be an afternoon lesson so you can practice and warm up in the morning.

Q: What happens when I reach an intermediate level?
Answer: We consider you a graduate of the program and celebrate by giving you an awesome graduation packet complete with 4 complimentary lift tickets, a follow up lesson and exclusive retail and F+B discounts. Please note that graduation benefits are only available to participants who were first timers to snowsports when they started the program. New for this season we are also offering graduates with no previous Season Pass history an exclusive deal on an Premium Season Pass for the 2016-17 season for just $199!

Q: Who can sign up for this program?
Answer: This program is exclusively for ages 13 and over and newcomers to the sport, or those whose skills mean they are classified as ability level 1. Those entering the program above that level will be transferred into other lesson programs.

Q: I'm a skier, can I sign up to learn snowboarding or vice-versa?
Answer: Yes! Although as you are not a first timer to snowsports as a whole, you can complete the program and take the lessons, but will not be eligible to receive the graduation benefits or the exclusive Season Pass offer.

Q: Is this the only way to learn?
Answer: Not at all, if you don’t mind the cost Private Lessons offer the biggest learning opportunity in the shortest time frame because of the personalized aspect of the lesson and the ability to request the same instructor each time.

Q: Can I bypass the lessons and just use the rental equipment and lift ticket?
No, you are required to attend the lessons to be able to continue in the program

Q: What type of lift ticket does each day come with?
Each day you take as part of the Learn-in-3 Guarantee lesson program comes with a Beginner lift ticket, which gives you access to the conveyor lifts in the learning area and Daisy, our beginner chairlift, only. Only upon graduating with an instructor will you be able to access any of the intermediate lifts on the mountain

Q: If I don't use all my days, or don't finish the program this season, can I transfer unused days to someone else or keep going next winter?
Answer: The Learn-in-3 Gurantee is non-transferrable and non-refundable. Unused days and any discounts, tickets or vouchers associated with graduating expire at the end of the current winter season.

Q: What about the voucher to purchase a 2016-17 Season Pass for $199?
Answer: This is the only graduation perk that does carry over. The 2016-17 Premium Season Pass voucher may be redeemed anytime from March 15th of the current season, through the 2016-17 winter season. It is not transferrable and is only valid for new passholders with no prior pass product history at Stevens Pass and who were first timers to snowsports when they began the Learn-in-3 program in the 2015-16 season.

Reservations, check-in and cancellations

Q: What does a reservation mean?
Answer: Pre-paying or reserving ahead of time means we have your rental equipment waiting for you when you check-in and reserves your spot in a class at the start time chosen. By completing the process prior to arrival you will save time and avoid unnecessary lines. Equipment reserved for 10am and 1pm lessons is held until 1pm, so be sure to check-in on time.

Q: Is a reservation necessary?
Answer: Reservations are highly recommended to expedite the check-in process and avoid lines. If you are planning a trip on a weekend or during a holiday we advise reserving as much as a week in advance as space in our programs fills up frequently, especially at the 10am start time. If you are walking-in, or if you have flexibility, we advise considering taking later afternoon lessons (4pm) or visiting on mid-week days to avoid the crowds.
