First Timer FAQs

First-Timer FAQs

What's the best option for someone new to skiing/snowboarding?

Q: What is the most affordable way to learn?
Answer: Group lessons. Our Beginner Lesson Package includes equipment rental, a helmet and a lift ticket at a big discount.

Q: What's the best time to visit the resort if I am a first timer or Beginner?
Answer: The resort is most popular on weekends and holidays during the day. The most popular lesson times are Peak Saturdays and Sundays at 10AM and 1PM. We recommend visiting on Off-Peak days, or coming up for a 4PM or 6PM night lesson to experience more space and a more tranquil experience in the learning area, the lodges and in the parking lots.

Q: Are Beginner Lessons only for First Timers?
Answer: Our Beginner Lessons cater for everyone from first timers up to an intermediate ability level. This includes the Beginner and Novice levels on our Ability Level Chart. If you want to gain more confidence and independence on green beginner runs to prepare you for taking on blue, intermediate terrain then Beginner Lessons are for you.

Q: Is this the only way to learn?
Answer: Not at all, for an extra cost Private Lessons offer the biggest learning opportunity in the shortest time frame because of the personalized aspect of the lesson and the ability to request the same instructor each time.

Q: What type of lift ticket does the Beginner Lesson Package come with?
Answer: Beginner Lesson Packages include a Learning Area lift ticket, which gives you access to the conveyor lifts in the learning area and Daisy, our beginner chairlift, only.

Reservations, check-in and cancellations

Q: What does a reservation mean?
Answer: Pre-paying or reserving ahead of time means we guarantee to have rental equipment for you and reserves your spot in a class at the start time chosen. By completing the process prior to arrival you will save time and avoid unnecessary lines.

Q: Is a reservation necessary?
Answer: Reservations are highly recommended to expedite the check-in process and to guarantee a spot in a class. If you are planning a trip on a weekend or during a holiday we advise reserving as much as a week in advance as space in our programs fills up frequently, especially at the 10AM start time. If you are walking-in on a weekend, or if you have flexibility, we advise considering taking a night lesson (at either 4pm or 6pm) or visiting on mid-week days to avoid the crowds.

Q: Sounds great! How can I sign up?
Answer: You can purchase online or by calling 206-812-7387 once we begin selling.

Q: When do the lessons start?
Answer: We offer 10am (Morning) and 1pm (Afternoon) start times every day and lessons are 2 hours in length. On all Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays when we are open until 10PM we offer additional start times, at 4pm and 6pm. Traffic, road conditions and parking can often unexpectedly extend your travel time. On Peak Days, we recommend a night lesson for the best beginner experience and plan on arriving at least 90 minutes before your lesson to allow enough time for parking and the equipment rental process.

Q: What if I need to cancel my reservation?
Answer: Changes or cancelations MUST be made 2 days prior to your reservation date in order to receive a FULL REFUND.

  1. To cancel, please email cancelations@stevenspass.com or call 206-812-4510 and listen for the cancellation options. We recommend you error on the side of caution if you are sick.
