How the Program Works

Program Details

This product includes lessons, equipment plus helmet and a restricted access lift ticket each day. The lift ticket provides full-day access to our Learning Area, Daisy and Brooks chairlifts only.

Purchasing this product gets you 4 lessons that can be redeemed any day we are offering the program this winter. The 4 visits do not need to be on consecutive days. Once you have registered, give us a call to reserve your visits in advance and guarantee your spot in a class. (206)812-4510

Our Explore-in-4 lesson times are intentionally offered during periods when the resort is quieter; to allow for the optimum arrival, on-snow and lodge experience Stevens Pass has to offer for first timers and beginners. All lessons are 2 hours in length and are offered:

  • From 2pm - 4pm every day
  • From 5pm - 7pm on:
    • All Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between December 14th 2019 and March 15th 2020.
    • The following additional Holiday Days: December 25th, 26th, 30th, 31st, January 1st, 2nd, 20th, February 17th

Program graduation and completion of our Explore-in-4 challenge occurs once you reach a level of comfort and independence on our gentlest intermediate terrain, served by our new Brooks chairlift. All graduates are given access to some exclusive on-mountain discounts and perks through the end of the current winter season. To receive your graduation reward, visit us in the Private Lesson Office or Rental Center during operating hours.

What to Know Before you Go

  • If you need to change or cancel your reservation please refer to our cancellation policy below.
  • Lessons are never cancelled because of weather.

  • Lessons begin at 2:00pm sharp on snow everyday, or at 5:00pm sharp on select days. Be ready to go with your ski or snowboard equipment.
  • We recommend aiming to arrive 90 minutes before your start time to allow for arrival, navigation, check-in and equipment fitting after arrival if you are renting equipment.
  • If you purchased rental equipment as part of the Explore-in-4 Package, this cannot be picked up until 12:30pm at the earliest.
  • Be sure to eat and drink plenty of fluids before your lesson.
  • Check the road conditions before you leave to ensure you are prepared.
  • If renting, head to the Rental Center first to check-in and get fitted for equipment. Lessons meet on-snow right outside the Rental Center.

*Gratuities for coaches are not a requirement but an appropriate and appreciated gesture. A 10-20% gratuity based on the cost of the lesson will make your coach feel very appreciated and valued.

Your Explore-in-4 Program includes 4 lessons, however those can be redeemed at anytime the program is being offered and days do not have be consecutive. The goal of this program is to give you enough skills that you feel confident and independent skiing or snowboarding on our intermediate terrain, also referred to as "blue runs" within the national classification system; Green = Beginner, Blue = Intermediate, Black = Advanced.

Our easiest "blue" runs are accessed by our brand new Brooks Chairlift and offer long, wide, winding runs that give you the sustained thrill of cruising from the top of one of the best vista points at Stevens Pass. Once you can navigate these runs in control we consider you ready to graduate the program, and ready to explore all that the mountain and the sport has to offer!

Technically this means controlling your speed and direction of descent by making controlled turns to both the left and the right, keeping your skis parallel most of the time (skiers) or using both your toe and heel edges (snowboarders), and cruising comfortably while being able to stop at any point.

In our experience, it is typical for new skiers or snowboarders to take 4 lessons to reach this point. Which is where the guarantee comes in.

We are so confident that you can become a skier or snowboarder who is comfortable and confident on our easiest blue runs, that if you do not reach this point after your 4th lesson, your 5th is on us. If you purchased the Explore-in-4 Package that also include the lift ticket and rental equipment, these items are also included in your free 5th visit.
Absolutely. The gift of skiing or snowboarding can be a great way to help someone discover a winter passion. When purchasing you are required to provide details about the participant including their name and date of birth. If this information is unknown you may purchase the program under yourself, and then make a one-time transfer to the intended participate at a later date, provided this happens before the first lesson redemption. To transfer, give us a call at (206)812-4510.
