THE MOUNTAIN
Recycle - Reduce - Reuse
Recycle - Reduce - Reuse
100% renewable energy is just the start. Stevens Pass has a comprehensive recycling program that targets everything recyclable. Along with the standards; glass, cans, plastic paper and tin. Stevens Pass also reuses all vehicle oils, crankcase and hydraulic fluids are collected and burned to supplement the heating of the building. All anti-freeze from over 42 vehicles including snowcats, is filtered and reused for steel rail lubrication on the high-speed quads. The resort has an area-wide "spill plan" and clean up sled to deal with any on-mountain fuel spills. Scrap steel from equipment repair and fabrication is also recycled.
Stevens Pass recycles every year:
- 22.5 tons of cardboard
- 4 tons of cooking oil
- 5 tons of steel cable
- 225 pounds of cans
- 800 pounds of plastic
- 3,860 pounds of glass
- 3,800 pounds of mixed paper/cardboard
Our goal for the 2007 2008 season is to double the number of pounds recycled.
